The Battle of GETTYSBURG
The Battle of Gettysburg was fought on July 1-3 1863 in the town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The battle was fought between the Union and Confederate soldiers. The battle was labeled as the bloodiest battle of the Civil War and also the bloodiest battle fought on American soil up to today. The battle lasted three days under Union General George G. Meade and Confederate General Robert E. Lee. The battle ended with a Union victory which pretty much sealed the war for the North. Union casualties in the battle numbered 23,000, while the Confederates had lost some 28,000 men–more than a third of Lee’s army.
