Florence Nightingale was a famous nurse in both the Civil War and the Crimean war. She and 28 other nurses reduced the death rate by two-thirds. During the Civil War, she worked in the field hospitals, helping soldiers who were wounded during battle. At the age of 88, she was given the merit of honor by King Edward.
