LIncolns ASSASSINATION
Abe Lincoln was assassinated on the day known as Good Friday. He was shot while attending the play Our American Cousin. The play was being held at Ford's Theatre, just as the American Civil War was coming to an end. Robert E. Lee had just surrendered at Virginia only 5 days earlier. The assassination of Lincoln was planned and carried out by the well-known stage actor John Wilkes Booth, as part of a larger conspiracy in a bid to revive the Confederate cause. The day of the assassination took place on April 14, 1865.
