Battle of the Wilderness
The Battle of the Wilderness was fought on May 5-6, 1864. It was the beginning of the Overland Campaign, the bloodiest campaign in American history and the turning point in the war. It was between the union's General Meade and Grant and the confederacies Robert E. LEE. This was a Union Victory and allowed Grant to continue his march. The Union had 18,400 casualties and the south had 11,400.
