Harriet Tubman, a hero born into slavery in Maryland Dorchester County around 1820. She was an African American who escaped the South, but put her life on the line by going back to help rescue others. In her time as a conductor she saved and transported 300 slaves through the Underground Railroad. Even after escaping the South, Harriet went back 19 times to help rescue other slaves.
